Philadelphia, January 19, 2009 — Dozens of executives from the soccer industry’s most in-demand brands like, Adidas, Puma, Under Armour, S1 Sport and CALLE, descended on Philadelphia for the National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) Convention to attend’s first annual Soccer Products of the Year (SPY) Awards last Friday night.

The SPY Awards, emceed by Mike Jerrick, host of Good Day Philadelphia morning news program, were developed to celebrate the best and most innovative soccer products available. Winners of the first annual SPY Awards include:

    The Coach is a long-time soccer player, coach and fan. He started playing in the dark ages (1970's) and will continue as long as his body will let him. He has coached players from u-7 to adult and players learning the game to players trying to make their national team. He is a dedicated fan of the Oranje.

    2. Loved the post. Why is there such a difference between these and your awards?

      • Different criteria. The SPY awards are based on criteria set by the retailer that sponsors the award. ASER is based on testing results and reader input. We didn’t have the opportunity to test some of the top boots last year, so that changes the results, too. As the editor, I thought the Puma’s were the best boots we tested, but the majority of our reader responses supported the concave. I think much of that response was generated by concave’s marketing group.
